Humanitarian crises are increasingly protracted and complex, lacking clear solutions and paths to reach the most-affected individuals and communities. Program implementers need to constantly reflect on what is and what is not working and adapt accordingly, known as adaptative management. The Re:Build program, implemented by The International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Center for Global Development (CGD), and other partners, is one of many projects attempting to work in an adaptive way to support economic self-reliance for urban refugees and host communities in Nairobi and Kampala.
During this event, co-hosted by CGD and the IRC, experts will discuss lessons learned from working in an adaptive way, both in Re:Build and in other similar projects. In doing so, we will highlight the benefits and challenges, and explore how implementers and donors should take this agenda forward to help those affected by such crises.
