Discussion (in German) with director Simone Lässig

In conversation with Simone Lässig, director, German Historical Institute Washington
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? All who wish to hear and speak German are invited to bring their lunch to our monthly presentation and discussion. A topic of interest from German culture, history, or contemporary affairs will be presented, in German, by a selected speaker. Discussion on the topic will complete the Mittagstisch.
In this talk, Simone Lässig will present the German Historical Institute (GHI) and its central responsibilities, current programs and research projects, and its plans for the future. She will also reveal little-known aspects of the history of the Institute, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2017. This will be an opportunity to discuss the role of the Institute in the sometimes conflicting arenas of scholarship and the public.
Historian Simone Lässig has been director of the German Historical Institute since October 2015. She led the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research in Braunschweig from 2006 to 2015.
Beverages and sweets are provided.
Tickets $5/No charge for Friends of the Goethe-Institut.
Sponsored by Friends of the Goethe-Institut.
