About this Event

In the 2010s, Western documentary filmmakers gained access to a Russian real estate oligarch, Aras Agalarov, and his son, Emin. From this they made the film, Breaking the West , which explores the story of the Agalarov family and its ties to countries outside of Russia, including the United States. After screening this film, Peter Baker, Susan Glasser, Bridget Hunnicutt and Michael Kimmage will discuss its core themes, from kleptocracy in Russia to international patterns of corruption and influence peddling — past and present.
