More transgender people are getting elected to office at all levels across the country both in blue and red states. This past year, six transgender candidates were elected at the state level. In 2018, as many as 48 transgender candidates ran for office at all levels with the number dropping slightly to 34 this past year. These candidates are running for office at a time when transgender rights are gaining more attention across the country.
