In recent years, a growing number of district attorneys (DAs) and state attorneys general (AGs) across the country have begun bringing criminal prosecutions against law-breaking employers. These prosecutions address a range of employer-committed crimes: wage theft, worker misclassification, evasion of unemployment and workers’ compensation laws, labor trafficking, egregious workplace safety violations, and more. While crimes against workers have not historically been widely prosecuted, DAs and AGs have unique tools and an important role to play in protecting workers from employers who break the law.

This webinar highlights the growing trend of prosecutions of employer crimes against workers, and their importance in addressing widespread labor violations. Prosecuting these crimes creates meaningful consequences for law-breaking employers and gives workers an important pathway to hold employers accountable.

Join us for a panel discussion on how criminal prosecutions protect workers’ rights and ensure a level playing field for law-abiding employers. Hear from elected district attorneys about why they support this work and from line prosecutors about cases they have brought. Speakers will share ways prosecutors, states, and worker organizations can build relationships and work together to improve workplace enforcement.
