Join TransAfrica and BloomBars as we celebrate June – Caribbean American Heritage Month with the presentation of On the Trail of My Father: The Story of Lucky Dube (2009, 52 min), by Kurt Orderson.
On the Trail of My Father: The Story of Lucky Dube tells the story of murdered South African reggae artist Lucky Dube. Thokozani his eldest son, who was present in the car when his father was gunned down, tries to come to grips with the loss of his father. He travels with his late father's tour manager to Jamaica, meeting old friends and fellow musicians. He is embraced by thought-provoking stories about his father and the impact his father’s music had in the world. This film was shot on location in South Africa, London and Jamaica.
Our film will be followed by a Q&A w/ filmmaker Kurt Orderson from S. Africa, via Skype, and moderated by Mwiza Munthali, the Public Outreach Director of TransAfrica.
