The new US Indo-Pacific strategy, released in February 2022, focuses on strengthening collective capacities of partners and allies and acknowledges the value an engaged Europe could bring to the Indo-Pacific. Given the many commonalities in the US and European Indo-Pacific strategies, a crucial next step would be to build upon these convergences and to identify news ways of cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) invites you to our upcoming event, exploring US-Europe cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. Following welcome remarks by Heather Conley, GMF, we will start with a fireside chat with Kurt Campbell, US National Security Council, Gunnar Wiegand, European External Action Service, and Bonnie Glaser, GMF Asia, on the US Indo-Pacific strategy and the role it envisions for Europe. This will be followed by a panel featuring Gabriele Visentin, EU Special Envoy for the Indo-Pacific, and Mira Rapp-Hooper, US National Security Council, moderated by Garima Mohan, GMF Asia. This panel will explore the overlaps between the US and EU Indo-Pacific strategies, potential areas of collaboration both with the EU and member states like France, as well as specific plans to implement these strategies.
