This year’s event promises to build upon the success of last year, with a schedule of prominent speakers that have generously offered their time and expertise.&nbsp;As well as demonstrating solidarity with the Uyghur community—many of whom continue to lack any information about arbitrarily detained family members—we hope this event provides insight and inspiration to confront one of the most pressing human rights crises of our time. The UN’s report was a necessary wake-up call to the international community, but the on-the-ground reality of mass imprisonment, forced labor, family separations and suppression of Uyghur language, culture, religion and identity shows that there is still much the international community needs to do to stop the ongoing atrocities, reunite families with their loved ones and reject the Chinese government’s impunity to commit crimes against humanity. During this discussion, experts will identify key opportunities and challenges facing offshore wind developers and policymakers, while providing perspectives on the unique conditions of each offshore wind market.Offshore wind is an incredibly promising decarbonization technology that nevertheless faces significant hurdles to adoption, especially outside of relatively mature markets, such as the North Sea. Offshore wind typically enjoys the highest capacity factor of all renewables resources, outside of water-constrained hydropower. Moreover, its generation profile is often anticorrelated with other renewables resources, such as solar, improving prospects for grid decarbonization. Finally, offshore wind is often the only viable renewables resource that can generate at-scale – including in land-constrained regions such as East Asia that also suffer from relatively unfavorable onshore solar and wind economics.&nbsp;&nbsp;The global offshore wind market is still in its early stages. Offshore wind typically enjoys the highest capacity factor of all renewables resources, outside of water-constrained hydropower. Moreover, its generation profile is often anticorrelated with other renewables resources, such as solar, improving prospects for grid decarbonization. Finally, offshore wind is often the only viable renewables resource that can generate at-scale – including in land-constrained regions such as East Asia that also suffer from relatively unfavorable onshore solar and wind economics.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The global offshore wind market is still in its early stages. The comprehensive integration of a digital model with a physical asset such as a manufacturing environment is one example of a digital twin.Where might the government&nbsp;find use for such a digital twin technology? In short, everywhere. Just as enterprises see value in creating and deploying digital twins throughout all operations—from sourcing to sales to service—the same is true for government. Government activities are broad: from construction to public safety, through supply chains and logistics, to healthcare, and including national defense. USAID Equitable AI Community of Practice workshop 2: Gender Inclusive AI governance

In recent years, Saudi Arabia has seen a remarkable increase in the participation of women in its private sector. This shift is fueled by a combination of factors, including proactive government policies advocating for women’s economic empowerment, rising educational attainment among women, and an increased demand for female labor in the private sector. As a result, from late 2018 to the end of 2022, the labor force participation rate for Saudi women saw a significant rise, moving from 20 percent to 35 percent.Recognizing this dynamic shift, the Atlantic Council’s WIn Fellowship is hosting a workshop titled “The Rising Female Workforce in Saudi Arabia and Its Impact on the Private Sector.” The workshop will take place on Tuesday, July 25th, from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm ET/7:00-8:00 pm KSA Time.The WIn Fellowship is led by the Atlantic Council’s empowerME Initiative in cooperation with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business with support from US Embassy Riyadh and PepsiCo. AmCham Saudi Arabia is our in-country partner in Saudi Arabia.&nbsp;Our yearlong program, running from June 2023 to March 2024, will provide thirty-four Saudi women entrepreneurs the opportunity to extend their networks, gain practical knowledge, and develop meaningful U.S.-Saudi people-to-people and business ties. This will assist them in scaling their businesses at local, regional, and global levels. In addition, the Atlantic Council is set to produce publications featuring insights, case studies, and policy recommendations as part of the program.
